Dyeing with Nature! **New Class** October 15th

 Dyeing with Nature!
Instructor: Adrienne Rodriguez

This is Natural Dye Class taught by Adrienne Rodriguez. You will learn how to dye yarn and fiber with fresh or dried whole natural dye stuffs, not from extracts. This will inspire you to have fun with the plants that surround you, including mushrooms!

She will cover the following (but not limited to):

- Yarn and Fiber Preparation which will include helpful tips for a successful end product
- Mordanting with Alum for protein fibers (these are fibers that come from animals)
- Dye Stuff Prep
- Actual dyeing of yarn and fiber
- Washing and drying your yarn
- Plants and mushrooms in the Bay Area that offer great color
- Resources for continued learning

We will provide some dyestuffs but highly encourage you to bring your own dyestuff from your own backyard! We recommend at least two pounds of non-dried and/or one pound dried!

This class is focused on retrieving color from nature and having fun doing it!  You will walk away with the skills to dye your own yarn or fiber with plants, not mention samples of your dyeing that day.
